ThissectiondescribeshowtoinstallaUTPstraight‐throughcablewithRJ45connectors

Enterasys NetworksmoduletoaccessLocalManagement.Thissectionalsoprovidesthe
pinoutassignmentsoftheadapters.
What Is Needed
Thefollowingisalistoftheuser‐suppliedpartsthatmaybeneededdependingonthe
connection:
•RJ45‐to‐DB9femaleadapter
•UTPstraight‐throughcableterminatedateachendwithanRJ45connector
•RJ45‐to‐DB25femaleadapter
•RJ45‐to‐DB25maleadapter
WithaUTPstraight‐throughcablewithRJ45
connectorsandRJ45‐to‐DB9adapter,you
canconnectproductsequippedwithanRJ45COMporttoanIBMorcompatiblePC
runningaVTseriesemulationsoftwarepackage.
WithaUTPstraight‐throughcableandRJ45‐to‐DB25femaleadapter,youcanconnect
productsequippedwithanRJ45COMport
toaVTseriesterminalorVTtypeterminals
runningemulationprogramsfortheVTseries.
WithaUTPstraight‐throughcableandanRJ45‐to‐DB25maleadapter,youcanconnect
productsequippedwithanRJ45COMporttoaHayescompatiblemodemthatsupports
9600 baud.
Connecting to an IBM PC or Compatible Device
ToconnectanIBMPCorcompatibledevice,runningtheVTterminalemulation,toan
Enterasys NetworksmoduleCOMport(Figure 3‐9),proceedasfollows:
1. ConnecttheRJ45connectoratoneendofaUTPstraight‐throughcabletothe
communicationsCOMportontheEnterasys Networksmodule.(TheCOMportis
alsoknownasaConsoleport.)
2. PlugtheRJ45connectorattheotherendoftheUTPstraight‐throughcableintoan
RJ45‐to‐DB9adapter.
3. ConnecttheRJ45‐to‐DB9adaptertothecommunicationsportontheIBMPC.
