Configuring the VLAN Egress List

Purpose

SwitchcommandsareusedtoassignorremoveportsontheegresslistofaparticularVLAN.This

determineswhichportswillbeeligibletotransmitframesforaparticularVLAN.Forexample,

ports1,5,9,8couldbeassignedtotransmitframesbelongingtoVLAN5(VLANID=5).

The

portegresstypeforallportsdefaultstotaggingtransmitted frames,butcanbechangedto

forbiddenoruntagged.Ingeneral,VLANshavenoegress(exceptforVLAN1)untiltheyare

configuredbystaticadministration,orthroughdynamicmechanisms(thatis,GVRP,policy

classificationorEnterasysdynamicegress).

Setting

aporttoforbiddenpreventsitfromparticipatinginthespecifiedVLANandensuresthat

anydynamicrequests(eitherthroughGVRPordynamicegress)fortheporttojointheVLANwill

beignored.Settingaporttountaggedallowsittotransmitframeswithoutatagheader.This

settingis

usuallyusedtoconfigureaportconnectedtoanenduserdevice.

ThedefaultVLANdefaultsitsegresstountaggedforallports.
