ThischapterprovidesinformationaboutconfiguringSecureStackB2switchesinastack.
About SecureStack B2 Switch Operation in a Stack
TheSecureStackB2productsarestackableswitchesthatcanbeadaptedandscaledtohelpmeet
yournetworkneeds.Theseswitchesprovideamanagementplatformanduplinktoanetwork
backboneforastackedgroupofuptoeightSecureStackB2switches.
Onceinstalledinastack,theswitchesbehaveand
performasasingleswitchproduct.Assuch,
youcanstartwithasingleunitandaddmoreunitsasyournetworkexpands.Youcanalsomix
differentproductsinthefamilyinasinglestacktoprovideadesiredcombinationofporttypes
andfunctionstomatchtherequirements
ofindividualapplications.Inallcases,astackofunits
performsasonelargeproduct,andismanagedasasinglenetworkentity.
WhenswitchesareinstalledandconnectedasdescribedintheSecureStackB2InstallationGuides,
thefollowingoccursduringinitiali zation:
•Theswitchthatwillmanagethestackisautomaticallyestablished.
Thisisknownasthe
managerswitch.
•Allotherswitchesareestablishedasmembersinthestack.
•Thehierarchyoftheswitchesthatwillassumethefunctionofbackupmanagerisalso
determinedincasethecurrentmanagermalfunctions,ispowereddown,orisdisconnected
fromthestack.
