Locating and Fixing Coverage Holes
AfterimportingRFmeasurementsandrebuildingtheattenuationlibrary,lookforcoverageholes
bydisplayingcoverage.Performthefollowingstepstolocatecoverageholes:
1. DisplaytheoptimizedRFcoverageareatoviewtheresultsofthecorrectedattenuationdata.
2. LockdowndeployedAPsinthecoveragearea(sothatRASMwillnot
moveAPsinyour
networkplanduringthecomputeandplaceprocess).
3. ComputeandplaceAPs.
4. Replanyournetworkbasedoncomputeandplaceresults.
Displaying the RF Coverage Area
DisplaytheRFcoverageareatoviewtheRFcoveragebasedonthecorrectedattenuationdata.
TodisplaytheRFcoveragearea:
1. SelecttheRFPlanningoptioninthemainRoamAbout SwitchManagertoolbar.
2. DisplaythefloorplanintheContentpanel.
3. IntheTaskListpanel,clickRFPlanning.
4. IntheShow
RFcoverageusinglistbox,selecthowyouwanttodisplaythecoverage:
• BaselineAssociationRate—CoverageisshownbasedontheAPradiobaselineassociation
rate.Thebaselineassociationrateisthetypica ldataratetheradioisexpectedtosupport
forclientassociations.(Thebaselineassociationrateisspecifiedduringplanning,
ona
coverageareabasis.)
• DataRate—Coverageisshownincoloredbandsthatrepresenteachofthedatatransmit
ratessupportedbytheradio.Theseratesarestandardforeachradiotype.
•RSSI—Coverageisshownbasedonthereceivedsignalstrengthindication(RSS I)ofthe
radio’ssignalheardbyother
radios.
5. IntheCoverageAreassectionoftheOrganizerpanel,selectthescopeforwhichyouwantto
displaycoverage.Youcandisplaycoverageforanindividualradio,aspecificcoveragearea,
orallcoverageareasonthefloor.
•Toselectmultiplecontiguousobjects,clickonandholdtheShiftkey
whileselecting.
•Toselectmultiplenoncontiguousobjects,clickonandholdtheCtrlkey(Macintosh:
Command)
whileselecting.
6. Onthetoolbar,clicktheradiotype(A,B,orG)forwhichyouwanttodisplaycoverage.
Coveragefortheselectedscope(s)isdisplayed.
