Clientmonitoringprovidescurrentandhistoricalinformationabouttheclientsusingyour

clientsatyoursite.RASMdisplaysthedatathatRoamAboutswitchescollectonusersessions—
eitherforasingleuser,usersassociatedwithan
accesspoint,usersassociatedwithaspecific
radio,orusersaddedtoawatchlist.
Byviewingmonitoringinformationforauseroragroupofusers,youcantroubleshootproblems
originatingfrombandwidthconstraintsorroamingpatterns.Youcancollectstatisticsandview
reportsaboutthefollowing:
•Clientassociations,authentication,
andauthorizationfa ilures
•Clientactivity,suchasroamingandsuccessfulauthorization
• Currentsessionstatus,locationhistory,andstatistics
• Specificsonusersoveraperiodoftime;informationcanbegatheredupto30daysforsession
status,locationhistory,clienterrors,andclientactivityonusersyouplaceonthewatchlist

youuseRASMRFPlanning,youalsocandisplaytheapproximategeographiclocationsof
clients.
Fault Management
TheFaultManagementSystemisafeatureincludedinRASMtomakeiteasiertomanagefaults
(alarms)thatoccurinthenetwork.Afaultoralarm(thesetwotermsareusedinterchangeably)is
generatedbyatrap,arule,astatus,orathreshold‐exceededevent.TheFaultManagementSystem
monitorstrapsfromEnterasysandOEMdevices.
TheFaultManagementSystemalsomonitorscertaintrapsforthird‐partyapplications,andoffers
administratorstheabilitytoaddnewtrapsupportwhennecessary.ThetypeoftrapandIPsource
determinehownewtrapsupportshouldcorrelatewithexistingtrapsupport.
RASMincorporates
apowerfulandflexibledisplayinterfaceforallalarmscollectedbythe
system.Alarmsarestoredonaper‐RoamAboutSwitchbasisandare collectedcontinuously.
